HEC Lausanne has a new International Advisory Board, a strategic pillar for its international reach.

The new International Advisory Board (IAB) reflects HEC Lausanne's determination to position itself as a key player in international economic and financial circles. This committee, made up of 10 senior executives from different economic sectors, met for the first time on 15 April on the UNIL campus under the leadership of Dean Marianne Schmid Mast.

HEC Lausanne's International Advisory Board (IAB) will play a crucial role in defining the faculty's overall strategy, programs and initiatives. Its aim is to enhance the faculty's reputation, strengthen its local and national roots, encourage international collaboration and contribute to its continuous improvement.

The IAB is made up of a diverse group of leading figures from the business world with different experiences and perspectives to ensure a wide range of views and opinions. Five different nationalities are represented, and it is made up of representatives of international and Swiss companies and organisations, as well as NGOs and entrepreneurs. Members are active in the banking, auditing, finance, insurance, luxury goods, health, sport, technology and nutrition sectors.

IAB members are appointed for a three-year renewable term by the Dean of the Faculty, who has also appointed Stephanie Blum, Independent Consultant and former VP Head of Translational Research at Nestlé Health Science, as Chairwoman.

During its first meeting on 15 April 2024, the IAB examined the question of the skills that HEC Lausanne graduates will need in the workplace over the next 10 years. For the Faculty, the business world's perspective on these skills is crucial and will guide its decisions on training programs. Dean Marianne Schmid Mast commented: "It was an absolutely enriching session, which will help us to prepare our students even better for professional life, and which confirmed the direction in which the Dean's Office intends to take the Faculty forward."

What the members say on their motivations for joining the HEC Lausanne IAB:
"Bringing the reality of work closer to academic research, promoting creativity and entrepreneurship."
"I am passionate about learning and development at every stage of life".
"An opportunity to broaden my horizons, while serving a faculty with which I have cooperated and which I have always admired."
"I am delighted to be able to share my experience and the skills I have acquired throughout my career with the school and the training of future leaders."
"In the words of Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world".
"I appreciate the excellence of HEC Lausanne and I am deeply interested and concerned by education issues."
"It's great to be able to contribute to making the next generation ready to build a great world for tomorrow. HEC Lausanne is also well known and established in Switzerland, but maybe I can help it become even more international."
