Prof. Schöni will showcase his ongoing and future research endeavors, primarily focusing on urban development and its intricate interplay with institutional frameworks, transportation infrastructure, and topographical constraints. His work delves deeply into how these factors collectively influence urban sprawl, housing markets, and the economic vitality of cities. With a robust background in mathematics and economics, Prof. Schöni employed sophisticated statistical methods to analyze the hedonic price indices used in real estate, bringing a nuanced understanding of housing market dynamics.

Olivier Schöni is active in the field of urban economics, real estate, and policy evaluation, currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP) at the University of Lausanne. Prior to his current role, he was an Assistant Professor at Laval University in the Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate, and has held positions as Research Associate at the University of Bern, and Research Officer at the London School of Economics.

His academic journey is characterized by a blend of quantitative academic research and practical insights into urban economics, real estate, and policy evaluation. His scholarly work includes publications in academic journals such as the Journal of Urban Economics and Journal of Housing Economics, and his research has been cited in prominent media outlets like The Economist.
