Considering that it is extremely important that you talk in English as much as you can during your studies, this course provides both Bachelor's and Master's students the valuable opportunity to primarily enhance their speaking skills. The idea behind this course is to create an informal setting where we can have lunch together while engaging in debates over a wide range of societal topics. The objective is really to enhance your comfort and proficiency when communicating in English. If during the semester or academic year you need specific advice on how to improve any other language skills (e.g., presentation skills, writing and/or reading strategies, etc.), please do not hesitate to communicate your needs to me, whether you regularly attend the course or not. Of course, you’re encouraged to attend the sessions on a weekly basis to sustain your progress. However, please note that this course does not grant any credits. Consequently, there will be no formal assessments, assignments, or the need to learn long lists of vocabulary by heart! 🥳
For those among you who would like to have a more formal learning experience to improve your language skills, we highly recommend you sign up to the Language Center. It offers free language classes that favor a more communicative approach to language teaching! https://www.unil.ch/cdl/home.html
