The 2024 edition of the Swiss PhD Platform in Nursing Science Education (SPINE) Summer School is centered around the topic of "Establishing value-for-money of healthcare interventions ". This year's Summer School will be hosted by the University of Basel.
The 10th Swiss PhD Platform in Nursing Science Education (SPINE) Summer School will bring international scholars and PhD students together to learn designing behavior change interventions in healthcare. The Summer School 2024 will be held in Basel from August 19-22 and offers a mix of lectures and active group work led by senior researchers from different fields, formative feedbacks from peers and experienced researchers to foster interaction and critical thinking.
This year summer school will sensitize participants to the crucial need for cost-responsible decision-making in healthcare.
Health-economic assessments play a pivotal role in evaluating a wide range of interventions, including drugs, medical technologies, nursing and allied health interventions, preventive or screening programs, and system and workforce changes. To ensure reliable valuations of these interventions, thorough comparative analyses are essential. Such analyses consider the costs involved, immediate and downstream, as well as their consequential impact, such as changes in health states, improved nurse-patient ratios, social implications, or potential gains in life-years.
By the end of this course, participants will have developed the following capabilities:
The 2024 Summer School is a 4-day intensive course including lectures and group work. The course will be taught in English. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss their own research project.
