The event showcased a range of cutting-edge topics in organization science, digital markets and creative industries.
We recently hosted a dynamic and insightful workshop, bringing together PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization) and the digital markets research group within the department of Strategy, Globalization and Society at HEC Lausanne. The event showcased a range of cutting-edge topics in organization science, digital markets and creative industries.
The workshop kicked off with Ambre Nicolle's presentation on "The Impact of Trade Wars on Uninvolved Countries," specifically focusing on the smartphone market. This was followed by Elisa Gerten's exploration of "Technology and Performance Pay in Organizations." After a rejuvenating coffee break, the session resumed with Alexey Rusakov's intriguing study on "Knowledge Dynamics in the Era of ChatGPT," using Stack Overflow as a case study.
Post-lunch presentations included Jeremie Haese's discussion on "Open at the Core," a shift from proprietary technology to open source software in product development, and Anthi Kiouka's timely insights into "Generative AI and Consumer Sustainability." Jonathan Jensen then presented "Project Performance in OLMs," highlighting aspects of coordination and cooperation.
The event also featured Safia Bouacha’s research on "Complementor Versioning and Contributor Heterogeneity on Open Source Platforms," using GitHub as an example. Denzel Glandel presented on using "Information as a Strategy" to overcome complementors' lack of status.
The final session included Alexander Staub's exploration of "Transparency and Platform Portfolio Innovation in the Music Industry" and Franziska Kaiser's study on "Measuring the Returns to Specialization in the Creative Industries."
The workshop not only highlighted the high quality research of PhD students and Postdocs but also underscored the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in understanding organization, digital markets and creative industries.
