Sustainability Portal: a Focus on Biodiversity
A network of 72 dedicated professionals at UNIL, IMD, and EPFL, contribute each day to biodiversity research and innovation. This community includes a broad set of actors, ranging from full professors to PhD students and from specialised research laboratories to academic centers.
Focused Areas of Biodiversity Research
Our network is engaged in various aspects of biodiversity, including:
- Endangered Species and Conservation: addressing the urgent need to protect endangered species and understanding the factors leading to extinction. Featuring the work of Prof. Claus Wedekind, Dr. Olivier Broennimann (UNIL) and Nicolas Adam (EPFL).
- Ecosystem Function and Services: investigating how diverse ecosystems support life and human societies, and the services they provide. Featuring the work of Prof. Antoine Guisan, Prof. Marc Robinson-Rechavi, Dr. Valerie Dupont, Pierre-Louis Rey (UNIL), Prof. Tom Ian Battin, Dr. Ianina Altshuler (EPFL) and Dr. Edoardo Chiarotti (E4S).
- Environmental Degradation and Its Impact on Biodiversity: studying how activities like deforestation, pollution, and climate change affect biodiversity. Featuring the work of Prof. Véronique Boillet, Prof. Stuart Lane (UNIL), Dr. Amanda Williams (IMD), Prof. Sara Bonetti and Dr. Sascha Nick (EPFL).
- Climate Change Adaptation Strategies for Biodiversity: developing approaches to protect and preserve biodiversity in the face of climate change challenges. Featuring the work of and Dr. Roland Cochard (UNIL) and Prof. Anders Meibom (EPFL).
A Platform to Connect Sustainability Actors
The Sustainability Portal was launched in September 2023, with the objective to showcase sustainability research and innovation, and connect actors from our three institutions: UNIL, IMD and EPFL. We invite you to explore this network, use filters such as themes or keywords, and connect with like-minded professionals.
The Sustainability Portal is an initiative powered by E4S and CLIMACT, as well as the UNIL Competence Center in Sustainability, IMD and the EPFL Vice Presidency for Responsible Transformation, Vice Presidency for Innovation and Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs.
