On August 1, 2022, Yash Raj Shrestha joined the Department of Information Systems at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Lausanne. His research focuses on design and management of AI-based systems in organizations.
How to design effective information systems and organizational structures for human-AI (Artificial Intelligence) collaborative decision making? How might domain experts with tacit knowledge augment AI predictions? How to manage accountability risks due to AI decision delegation in organizations?
Prof. Shrestha’s research aims to identify solutions and frameworks for dealing with such organizational and technical hurdles that business organizations face when adopting AI-based systems.
Prof. Shrestha obtained his Doctor of Sciences (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) degree from ETH Zurich and master’s degree in Computer Science from Saarland University (Germany). Before joining HEC Lausanne, he was Senior Researcher (Oberassistent) at ETH Zurich. He is also Assistant Director of the Strategy and Artificial Intelligence Lab.
Prof. Shrestha’s work has been published in leading outlets in both management and computer science, including Nature Machine Intelligence, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, California Management Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Organization Design, EMNLP, IJCAI, ECAI, KDD, Theoretical Computer Science and Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
