The Award was presented on 9 June 2022 at the ICT Journal Spring Party, a new event in French-speaking Switzerland as part of the digital innovation week organised by the course.
The Digital Award is the result of a collaboration between ICT Journal, the Digital Circle and HEC Lausanne and is presented to the most innovative project created by students on the Master’s in Information Systems (IS) course. The students were given a week to come up with a solution to a challenge proposed by a business in the region.
With an audience of over 200 key players from the tech community in French-speaking Switzerland – including IT managers, specialists, start-up owners, students and researchers – three students on the Master’s in IS course, Arnaud Bonvin, Louis Tochon and Chadi Aebi, were presented with the Digital Award by Gérard Leroy (Group IS director of SICPA).
Elected by members of the Digital Circle (comprising 30 CIOs in French-speaking Switzerland), the three students proposed a lucid response appropriate to the challenge set by Baabuk, a Lausanne-based manufacturer of woollen shoes and slippers. The challenge the students faced was encouraging people to buy online in spite of the relative risk of having to choose a size.
The collaboration between students, professors, CIOs in French-speaking Switzerland and ICT Journal came up trumps for the third year running. The award benefits both the academic community and the world of business, serving not only to educate students but also encourage businesses to step away from their day-to-day concerns and discover the innovative, offbeat ideas of the younger generation.
