HEC Lausanne (UNIL) has obtained an excellent ranking in the WFA Center for Finance and Accounting Research (CFAR) ranking of the Olin Business School at the University of Washington. It is indeed in the top 50 in the world.
The CFAR ranking aims to evaluate financial research conducted by universities around the world. It is based on the number of academic research articles published between 2000 and 2020 in the most prestigious scientific journals in finance, economics, accounting and management.
This ranking introduces an important novelty among university rankings: it uses as a measure the rate of pro capita publications by full-time faculty at each institution, which makes it possible to compare the quality of research conducted within these institutions, regardless of their size.
Thus, HEC Lausanne ranks 43th, ahead of institutions such as Oxford University and the London School of Economics. This ranking includes academic publications by several members of the Department of Finance, as well as of some members of the Department of Economics conducting research in the field of finance.
"The CFAR ranking highlight our consistent focus on achieving research excellence. This results from a long-term collaborative spirit, a faculty dedicated to research activity and absolute persistence until the long road towards a high level academic publication is finished" comments Prof. Boris Nikolov, Director of the Department of finance.
