Would you like to work on resolving the world’s development problems? Apply for financial support for your humanitarian project from the Prix Christophe Pralong and the new Prix Olivier Cadot before 21 February 2022.
HEC Lausanne and the Department of International Relations at UNIL have created a new prize, the Prix Olivier Cadot, in honour of the memory of Prof. Olivier Cadot, professor of international economics and development at HEC Lausanne (1999 – 2019), and to support the initiatives of the Christophe Pralong Association.
The Prix Pralong was created in 2007 by Ms Sandra Pralong in honour of the memory of her husband Christophe, a former student at HEC Lausanne and former President of the HEC Students Committee (1978-80).
HEC Lausanne and the Christophe Pralong Association have signed a cooperation agreement in relation to the two prizes and to encourage more students from French-speaking Switzerland to work on the world’s development problems.
Christian Filippini, Secretary General of the Association Christophe Pralong and Marianne Schmid Mast, Dean of HEC Lausanne.
Each prize is worth CHF 10,000 and both are intended to help a student or group of students to complete a social, entrepreneurial or academic project in an emerging country. Both prizes are open to all Bachelor’s, Master’s, EMBA and PhD students at the University of Lausanne, EPFL and other faculties in universities in French-speaking Switzerland. The call for projects is open until 21 February 2021.
So far, for example, the Prix Pralong has funded projects involving a cereals mill for a village school in Niger, a processing facility for medicinal plants in Vietnam, an aid programme in Madagascar, a fund-raising campaign for a dispensary, a feasibility study on micro-irrigation in Niger and a sewing workshop producing ready-to-wear clothing for export in Côte d’Ivoire.
