A team of scientists at the University of Lausanne and the Swiss center of expertise in social sciences (FORS) is currently working on the application to establish the Generations and Gender Program (GGP) in Switzerland as part of the SWISS RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURES ROADMAP 2023.
The GGP aims to provide high quality and cross-nationally comparable longitudinal data to answer pressing scientific and societal challenges on population and family dynamics in contemporary societies. Over time, the GGP follows respondents through transitions to adulthood, family dynamics, fertility decisions, work-life balance, well-being, and inter-generational exchanges. It then tracks the causes and consequences of these events at the individual and societal levels. As, knowledge about social change is fueled by comparative research, the inclusion of Switzerland into the European GGP is of utmost importance.
We are organizing an online event on December 3rd between 9:00 and 11:30. The event aims to discuss with all users (such as academics, policy makers, statistical offices etc.) interested in the topics of gender, family and generations the potentials and challenges to implement the GGP within Switzerland.

We are already happy to welcome Prof. Anne Gauthier (Scientific Coordinator of the GGP, NIDI) as a key note. Her talk will be followed by short discussion inputs to the topics on Gender, Generations and Families in Switzerland from invited researchers from Swiss Universities. The main part of the event will be a round table discussion with the presenters and participants of this workshop (see program outline below).
