The project on “Data Economy – Organization, Innovation and Regulation” will run for four years
Digitization, and the internet in specific, are associated with firm productivity, innovation, employment, and economic growth. Moving forward, data will play an increasingly important role in the digital economy. Data is the key input factor in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies that are expected to enable valuable innovation, either by increasing efficiency, expanding existing markets, or serving new markets. In a new research project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and led by Professor Christian Peukert, we will study how data can be used to achieve innovation, how firms organize around data and AI and ML, and we will evaluate governmental regulation concerning data.
The project team is part of the Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society, namely PhD student Jérémie Haese and postdoctoral researcher Dogukan Yilmaz. Professor Annamaria Conti complements the team as a project partner, alongside other external collaborators.
