The UNIL Cours de vacances has been offering french as a foreign language courses for over 125 years.
It was in 1895 that the first French courses for non-French speakers were created at the University of Lausanne. Seven professors from the Faculty of Arts of our University (UNIL) offered French courses to students who came to Switzerland to study in peace in the midst of the tensions of the end of the century. The Universities of Geneva and Neuchâtel had done the same not long before.
125 years later, the pandemic we are facing leads our venerable institution to postpone and rethink the festivities planned for this anniversary.
Follow the Holiday Course news to find out how we are celebrating 125+1 years of excellence in the teaching of French as a foreign language throughout this year!
