The Translation House Looren supports professional literary translators with three residency grants for projects with English as a source or target language. The application deadline for all three grants is October 31st, 2020.
We welcome applications for a Max Geilinger translation grant from translators who are translating literary works written in English into German, French, Italian or Rhaeto-Romanic, or translating a work of Swiss literature into English. Each grant consists of CHF 2,000 and includes a free, one-month stay at Translation House Looren.
The Zurich James Joyce Foundation and Translation House Looren are substantiating their collaboration with a new grant for the translation of contemporary Irish literature. The Translation Scholarship and Looren Residency for Irish Literature 2021 supports translations into one of the four Swiss national languages. Candidates can apply for the first time for 2021. The CHF 1,500 grant includes a free stay at Translation House Looren. The Translation Scholarship and Looren Residency for Irish Literature is part of the programme of the Swiss Centre for Irish Studies, supported by the Irish Embassy in Bern and affiliated to the Joyce Foundation.
For the Joyce Scholarship and Looren Residency 2021, applications are invited from translators with an ongoing translation project of a work by James Joyce. Applicants are expected to be familiar with Joyce scholarship, all target languages are welcome. The grant amounts to CHF 1,500 and includes a free, one-month stay at Translation House Looren to work at the Zurich James Joyce Foundation.
