Bettina Klaus is a professor at HEC Lausanne (UNIL) and, together with her two co-authors, is one of the winners of the 2020 edition of the "Global Challenges in Economics and Computation" of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). She received the award for her research project "Doing Better Well: Designing a Market for Allocating Donations".
Selected by the ACM as one of the winners of the Global Challenges in Economics and Computation Competition, Prof. Bettina Klaus and her two co-authors, Profs. Mehdi Feizi and Rasoul Ramezanian both from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (Iran), have received an award which will fund the launch of their research project: “Designing a Market for Allocating Donations”. This project aims to improve efficiency and combat corruption in the context of charitable donations.
These prizes, awarded by the ACM Special Interest Group on Economics and Computation for the competition "Global Challenges in Economics and Computation", with financial support from Facebook, are intended to support investigation into important theoretical problems and new research applications for economics and computation (EC). Winning projects had to address at least one of the UN's sustainable development goals (SDGs) and leverage advances in EC for broader societal benefit.
