Professor Nicolas Rudolf joined the Department of Accounting and Control at HEC Lausanne (UNIL) on August 1, 2020, as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor.
Prior to joining HEC Lausanne, Prof. Nicolas Rudolf received his PhD degree from the University of Mannheim. While pursuing his PhD degree, he visited Lancaster University Management School. Beforehand, he studied business administration with major in Accounting at Ulm University and Goethe University in Frankfurt. Besides his academic activities, he gained valuable industry experience working for KPMG and Ernst & Young.
Prof. Rudolf’s research focuses on financial reporting incentives and transparency in the banking industry and other sectors. His recent work addresses the role of disclosures, enforcement and managerial discretion for reporting decisions, as well as institutional investors’ influence on corporate governance.
He is Research Fellow at the TRR 266 Research Center “Accounting for Transparency”. Furthermore, he also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for international journals, such as Accounting and Business Research and Accounting – Auditing – Control (Comptabilité – Contrôle – Audit).
