L'institut des sciences du sport souhaite la bienvenue à Monsieur Giorgio Manferdelli, engagé en qualité de Doctorant FNS.
I completed my master degree in Individual and Team Sport Sciences at the University of Milan in 2018. I spent the last year of my master at the Institute of Sports Medicine of the German Sport University in Cologne, during which I started to focus my research activities on exercise physiology in extreme environments. Since my master degree I contributed to several research expedition, including one to Slovenia investigating the effects of 10 days of bed rest on muscle oxygenation and cardiorespiratory function, and one to Monte Rosa Massif investigating cerebral oxygenation in subjects presenting symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness at altitude.
My PhD project at ISSUL is focused on the effects of acute and prolonged hypoxic exposure (both normobaric and hypobaric) in prematurely born subjects compared to full-term individuals.
