Professor Roxana Mihet joined the Department of Finance at HEC Lausanne (UNIL) on August 1, 2020, as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor.
Prof. Mihet graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University, Stern School of Business. Beforehand, she received her Master degree from the University of Oxford, and her Bachelor from the University of Chicago. Besides her academic activities, she also has gained several years of professional work experience in the Research Departments of the IMF, BIS, EBRD and Norges Bank on topics in macro-finance, real estate finance, financial stability, and finance and development.
Her expertise is on the role of information choice in macroeconomics and finance. More specifically, she studies how individuals, investors, and firms get their information, how that information affects the decisions they make, and how those decisions affect the macroeconomy and asset prices.
Her PhD dissertation won the Special Mention Prize at the Best Doctoral Student Paper Competition by the EEA 2019 and the Cubist Systematic Strategies Ph.D. Candidate Award for Outstanding Research at the WFA 2020 and was sponsored by a Macro-Financial Modeling Grant awarded by the Becker Friedman Institute in 2018.
Prof. Mihet has also been ranked her among the top 5% female economists (by last 10 years publications) by the platform and database IDEAS, managed by the Research Papers in Economics (RePEc).
