This newsletter provides you with a detailed presentation of the new course recording system, which has been developed for optimal hybrid teaching in view of the start of the new academic year in September 2020. In particular, you will find a list of the rooms equipped with the different types of recording systems and the solutions put in place to help you in the event of problems.
In order to cover the needs related to the particular teaching and learning modalities for the next autumn semester, we inform you of the creation of a system of course filming and recording in our institution.
This system, called R-E-C-UNIL (Rediffusion, Enregistrement et Captation), is based on the UbiCast technology that we all used last spring semester for the creation and distribution of our video teaching content.
All the mediaserver infrastructure that you experienced on unil.ubicast.tv was installed on our own servers during the summer and will now be available under this URL: https://rec.unil.ch. The https://unil.ubicast.tv cloud is still available until 15 September 2020 but uploads of new videos have been made impossible as of today. The final migration of the data is underway and you will be able to use https://rec.unil.ch from this Wednesday 2 September 2020 for your new productions.
Please note that all your existing content and settings have been automatically transferred to your respective channels and you will be able to access them without any necessary changes from your channel or Moodle course space.
In addition to the features you already know about this infrastructure, we have installed a live streaming and recording facility for teachers who need to broadcast in Hy-Flex mode.
This is based on a hardware infrastructure that we were able to install in 40 rooms on our campus this summer.
On the basis of the current infrastructure, your Hy-Flex courses can be organised as follows, depending on the type of room in which your course is scheduled.
Capture type A (13 rooms)

Demo courses for you
In addition to the numerous webinars which are offered by the CSE since the beginning of the summer and which concern the preparation of your courses and the management of the tools of the digital portfolio for teaching, we offer you as of next week "demo" sessions of the material and the 3 Hy-Flex modalities. As the number of people admitted to these sessions is limited, we would be grateful if you could register for one of them on https://conference.unil.ch/cours/cse (They are entitled Demo A for the equipment in type "A" rooms, Demo "B" and Demo "C" for the others).
Which support?
A specific Helpdesk team was recruited this summer and will be in place for the new academic year. The team will be in charge of monitoring live recordings and will be at your disposal in the event of a problem. They can be contacted by e-mail (elearning@unil.ch) or by telephone via the UNIL helpdesk number (+41 21 692 22 11).
Guides and resources will be available on https://www.unil.ch/coronavirus/teach from Thursday 3 September 2020.
