In this third edition of the "Study" newsletter, we provide you with useful contacts if you need psychological or financial support. You will also find a tutorial that will give you tips on how to get started in this particular context, as well as a list of new tools that will soon be available to facilitate remote learning. Finally, the FAE – “Fédération des associations d’étudiants” is calling for blood donations (March 31-April 2) and the Saphir Foundation is looking for students to keep company (at a distance) with elderly and lonely people.
Message of the Rector to the UNIL Community
Discover in video the new message of Nouria Hernandez, Rector of the University of Lausanne.
Psychological support
If you feel stressed by the current circumstances, you can turn to the psychotherapeutic consultation: consult.psy-unil@chuv.ch. Its conditions and general functioning are described on the website of the Social Affairs and Student Mobility Service (SASME).
Financial aid
In case of financial difficulties, you can first contact the Social Affairs and Student Mobility Service (SASME) at affaires.sociales@unil.ch. The SASME website provides information on the conditions for obtaining financial aid and the procedure to follow to obtain it. You will also find answers to questions about financial aid, exemptions from university fees, etc.
In cases where the SASME cannot intervene, or to benefit from some supplementary help, the Fédération des associations d'étudiants de l'UNIL (FAE) offers two complementary services: the Student Solidarity Fund and an Emergency Fund. For the latter, please use the dedicated form. The FAE, which details its position on the 2020 summer and fall exams here, reports that it receives many requests and tries to respond quickly. Granting procedures and further information are available on the Study page.
Technical solutions to improve distance learning
Later this week, UNIL will offer the ZOOM solution for students and teachers as a complement to Webex. Information related to the access conditions and the different tutorials to help you use it will be shared on the Study page.
As a complement to the courses and starting this week, all students will benefit from free access to all the MOOCs available on COURSERA. You will find out how to access the MOOCs on the Study page.
Do you have or know someone who has difficulties following the online courses for technical reasons (problems with equipment, wifi connection, etc.)? You can report any problems you encounter by specifying them at entraideunil@unil.ch.
Tips for remote learning
Technical and organizational issues set aside, how do we get to work in a remote learning context? A new tutorial on this topic is available to help you.
An act of solidarity: blood donation
In these difficult and unique times, the call for solidarity is everywhere. Blood donation is no exception. Indeed, because of the Covid-19 epidemic, donations are in sharp decline. These donations, however, make it possible to save lives and are therefore essential.
A collection will take place at the EPFL Salle Polyvalente (behind the Learning Center) on 31 March, 1 and 2 April from 10am to 5pm.
Please take an appointment and do not show up spontaneously for security reasons related to the current situation. Therefore, please make an appointment online via this link: https://reservation.ichspendeblut.ch/fr/companies/xWytOe
We invite you to donate your blood, but please respect the official health instructions as much as possible. Avoid public transport and go to the clinic alone. If you are close to Epalinges, we remind you that you can donate blood there, also by appointment.
We thank you for your solidarity.
