Valérie Wyssbrod, Dr iur, MA Law, MA Social Sciences
Valérie Wyssbrod is Visiting Fellow at the Chair of Public International Law at the Law School of the University of Lausanne (2020). She currently works on different topics in international environmental law. Apart from her research activity, she teaches “Biotechnologies et environnement juridique des sciences de la vie” at the University of Neuchâtel during the spring semester 2020. Her main research interests lie in the fields of the environmental law, law of the sea, biotechnology law, international governance and intellectual property law.
Previously, Valérie worked as a Postdoc researcher at the Stockholm Environmental Law and Policy Centre at Stockholm University in Sweden (2018-2019) on her own project on protected areas and sustainable development with the support of the SNF (Early PostdocMobility). She has a PhD in Law (summa cum laude 2017) from the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland (Thesis subject: Marine genetic resources from areas beyond national jurisdictions). She was a researcher at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada (2014), and at the Queen Mary University London (QMUL) in the United Kingdom (2014-2015) with a fellowship from the SNF (DocMobility). She also worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Centre for Innovation Law and at the Health Law Institute of the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland (2010-2015).
Valérie made her studies in Neuchâtel in Switzerland, Heidelberg in Germany and Newcastle in Australia and has obtained two masters, one MA in Law (2009) and one MA in Social Sciences (Journalism and Communication/ Sociology/ Psychology) (2005).
