A team of students from the Master in Finance at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne, won the very prestigious Swiss CFA Institute Research Challenge on 21 February this year which was held in the University of Zurich. HEC Lausanne consolidates its position as a breeding ground for top finance talent; it is the sixth victory in seven years for HEC Lausanne. The School congratulates the team of winners and Prof. Schürhoff, who supervised them!
In 2018, the HEC Lausanne's team became World Champion, winning the world final In Malaysia after winning the Swiss and EMEA competitions.
What is the CFA Institute Research Challenge?
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global financial analysis competition organised by the CFA Institute to promote the emergence of new talent. It rewards the best written presentation and analysis of a listed company by a team of students. In 2019, the Swiss teams analysed the recent IPO company Landis & Gyr. The HEC Lausanne team recommended a buy with 36% upside.
A sixth victory in the national final for HEC Lausanne
This year, the competition at the Swiss level took place for the thirteenth time and was held at the University of Zurich. Seven teams of 3 to 5 students from Basel, Lausanne, Lugano, Neuchâtel, St. Gallen, Zurich and Liechtenstein presented themselves to a jury of experienced financial professionals. The winning team, supervised by Professor Norman Schürhoff, was elected because it provided both the best presentation and the best written report. Its members are John Cody Zimmermann, Henri Enguerran Badoux, Karine Chammas, Alexandre Axilais and Nicolas Bregnard.
