Doctoral candidate (PhD student) in the field of Intra-Urban Forms and Environmental Impacts (M/F):
- 14 months fixed-term contract, renewable up to 3 years,
- Full-time (40h/week)
- Starding date : September 1st, 2018
- Student and employee status (36 months studies programme)
The PhD student will be a member of the IPSE research unit / Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning within the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg. He/she will work under supervision of Prof. Dr. Geoffrey Caruso.
The doctoral candidate will
- Write a thesis specifically devoted to assessing how intra-urban forms across Europe affect the environmental impacts of cities as well as the scaling of these impacts with population size.
- Participate in the activities of the SCALE-IT-UP research project
- Contribute journal articles and international communications in related fields
Your Profile
- Master in Geography, a Master in Science (Environmental, Mathematics, Physics...) with experience in geographical issues, or a Master in Urban, Landscape or Environmental Economics
- Strong interest in developing/using models and applied quantitative methods to urban issues and environmental problems
- Experience with standard statistical software (especially R) and/or mathematical software (Mathematica, Matlab, …) and/or proven programing skills
- Experience with geographical data management within or outside GIS environments
- Very good command of English (knowledge of French is a plus)
