A religious experience can profoundly affect the lives of those who have experienced it. Often, people report having experienced unusual or anomalous situations, which are not explained by the current scientific paradigm. However, such experiences are accepted, explained and lived wit- hin religious contexts such as Protestantism. In this presentation, we will talk about a research developed in Brazil about «Anomalous Experiences in Brazilian Protestantism», focusing on the methodological aspects of this study and the cultural challenges presented by it, and discuss how different Protestant groups (Traditional, Pentecostal and Neo-Pentecostal) interpret their experiences, from the point of view of the Social Psychology of Religion.
