HEC Lausanne team wins the EMEA regional final of the Swiss CFA Institute Research Challenge
The team of students from the Master’s in Finance at HEC Lausanne (University of Lausanne) won the EMEA regional final of the highly prestigious CFA Institute Research Challenge in Dublin on 5 April. Its outstanding performance means that Switzerland will be represented in the international final for the first time in nine years. The final will take place in Kuala Lumpur in three weeks’ time. The Dean’s Office congratulates the entire team and Professor Norman Schürhoff for their success and wishes them good luck for the final.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global financial analysis competition organized by the CFA Institute to promote the emergence of new talent. Students’ interest in the event grows year on year: in total, no fewer than 5,000 students from 1,000 universities in 140 countries took part in this year’s regional final.
Supervised by Professor Norman Schürhoff, the HEC Lausanne team is made up of five students on the Master’s in Finance course: Natalia Grudina, Jonathan Pavillard, Mark Temnikov, Sam Wagner and Jeroen Zandbergen. They produced an excellent analysis of the VAT group, which gave them the victory in the regional final alongside the BI Norwegian Business School, competing against 40 teams.
Now that the victory has propelled the team to the next stage of the competition, all they have to do is compete in the final to win the global challenge. They will be facing four teams from the Asia Pacific (APAC) and America zones. We wish them every success on the final straight!
