An interfaculty and inter-university course
A new transdisciplinary and inter-faculty course called "Global Warming and Societal Change: Discourse, Effects, Solutions” presented conjointly by the faculties of Arts (Lettres), Economics and Management (HEC) and Geoscience (FGSE) of the University of Lausanne and the University of Lancaster. The ecological, economic and societal crises that the world has been experiencing in the decades is the topic of this course that seeks to break the disciplinary and discursive boundaries that have limited our understanding of these crises. The course proposes an innovative research and pedagogical format that combines the expertise of fourteen professors coming from different fields and teaching together. On the other hand, the interactive format of the course will seek to promote responses from and discussion among students from the different faculties. The objective of the course is to closely examine the discourse in which our sense of the current crisis is embedded, understand what effects it has had, and, by thinking out of our own disciplinary box see what possible solutions we may invent.
