The AIS Outreach Practice Publication Award of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) was awarded to Yves Pigneur, Professor of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne. He won this prize at ICIS 2016, the International Conference on Information Systems which took place this past December 13th in Dublin (Ireland).
This prize was created to recognize members who successfully transfer research to practitioner audiences in practice-based publications. The publication selected for the award must be publically available with evidence that it has influenced practitioner or decision makers in the public or private sectors and/or researchers in disciplines greatly different from IS. The winner of the Outreach Practice Publication Award is determined by a volunteer committee of AIS members.Yves Pigneur has been a professor of Information Systems at HEC Lausanne since 1984. Yves and Alex Osterwalder (his former PhD student) invented the Business Model Canvas, authored the international bestseller, Business Model Generation, and more recently, Value Proposition Design. Not surprisingly, Professor Pigneur is a frequent keynote speaker and has given guest lectures in top universities across the globe.Business Model Generation has sold over a million copies and has been translated into 40 languages.
